With Andy’s Soul

The painting “Friends” is a playful yet iconic tribute to two figures who shaped the spiritual and political ethos of the late 20th century – the Dalai Lama and Václav Havel. Zuzana Veselá places them in the visual language of Andy Warhol: repetition, rich contrasting colors, a matrix of four squares. Each of the men is depicted twice, in slightly different color combinations, creating the effect of a pop art poster, where spirituality and politics are transformed into cultural icons.
